About Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment

Reverse osmosis water treatment is a commonly used water treatment technology, mainly used to remove soluble salts, organic matter, bacteria, viruses and other harmful substances in water. Its principle is mainly based on the filtration effect of reverse osmosis membrane.

The reverse osmosis membrane is a thin film with a microporous structure, and its pore size is usually several nanometers to tens of nanometers. The pore size of a reverse osmosis membrane determines what substances it can filter out. Since the pore size of the reverse osmosis membrane is much smaller than the size of harmful substances such as bacteria and viruses, it can effectively filter out harmful substances such as bacteria, viruses and impurities.

Reverse Osmosis Filtration Process

  • Raw water input: The raw water goes through pretreatment steps such as sand filtration, activated carbon adsorption filtration, resin softening filtration, etc., to remove suspended solids, sediment, rust and other impurities in the water, and reduce the degree of water pollution. After pretreatment, Water enters the reverse osmosis unit.
  • Pump: The pump in the reverse osmosis equipment is used to increase the pressure of the water to ensure that the water can pass through the reverse osmosis membrane.
  • Reverse osmosis membrane: The core part of reverse osmosis equipment. The reverse osmosis membrane is a thin film with a microporous structure, which can filter out harmful substances such as solutes, bacteria, and viruses in water, and prepare almost pure water.
  • Membrane shell: The membrane shell is the container of the reverse osmosis membrane, which plays the role of supporting and protecting the reverse osmosis membrane.
  • Post-processing: If the water quality is poor, post-processing steps such as activated carbon adsorption filtration, ultraviolet sterilization, and membrane separation will also be included. The purpose is to remove residual chlorine, odor, color and other harmful substances in the water to ensure the quality of the effluent.
  • Pure water output: the output end of the reverse osmosis equipment, and the almost pure water filtered by the reverse osmosis membrane is output from here.

Commercial & Industrial RO Equipment

Commercial reverse osmosis equipment and industrial reverse osmosis equipment are both equipment used to prepare purified water, but there are still some differences in some aspects.

Application fields: commercial reverse osmosis equipment is mainly used in commercial places, such as hotels, restaurants, office buildings, etc., to provide drinking water, tea, coffee, etc. Industrial reverse osmosis equipment is mainly used in industrial production fields, such as electric power, electronics, medicine and other industries, to prepare pure water and high-purity water required for production.

Equipment scale: Commercial reverse osmosis equipment is generally small in scale, while industrial reverse osmosis equipment is large in scale and occupies a large area of equipment, which is suitable for large-scale water production.

Outlet water quality requirements: The effluent water quality required by commercial reverse osmosis equipment is relatively low, and generally only needs to meet the requirements for drinking water. The effluent water quality required by industrial reverse osmosis equipment is relatively high, and generally needs to meet the requirements of pure water and high-purity water required for production.
